Dr. Mark Saracino - Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions:

What is the course of study?
Dr. Saracino's alma mater was the first chiropractic university to require a bachelors degree for matriculants and have a five year program which includes internship. The education is essentially similar to medical school with an emphasize on the neuromusculoskeletal system for diagnosis and treatment. The basic sciences include: biological and anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, clinical, radiological and imaging diagnosis. The clinical sciences include: pathology, orthopedics, neurology, nutrition, psychology, chiropractic specific diagnosis and treatment and extensive clinical training.

Have many scientific studies proven chiropractic's effectiveness?
Yes, many double-blind scientific studies have demonstrated chiropractic's superior effectiveness for the treatment of neck and low back pain, particularly when combined with physical therapy, which I perform. More recent studies have shown chiropractic to be effective in treating infantile colic, migraine headaches and other conditions.

The best sources for chiropractic research are the Journal of Manipulative and Physiologic Therapeutics (Dr. Saracino's alma mater is the publisher), the Journal of the Neuromusculoskeletal System (American Chiropractic Association- publisher), and the American Chiropractic Neurology Board's website www.acnb.org.
